Vimeo is a web video hosting company that is quickly becoming the standard for pro web image makers. The site has now improved its features to include 1080p video and is offering the ability to make mobile device versions of your videos for the iPhone, Droid etc. Check out the Vimeo site.

P.F. Bentley, famed photojournalist and instructor at the Platypus Workshop is making the switch to exclusively using DSLRs for HD shooting. The Platypus workshops sponsored by Canon will now use DSLRs for their workshop instead of Canon HD video cameras. The above video is a sample of Bentley’s video work done with a Canon 7D and using pro microphones.
The following short film was for Lawrence Aki and done in the remote Halawa Valley on Molokai. Mr. Aki is a 50th generation Kumu of his Hawaiian Halau lineage, which is a traditional school of ancient knowledge from the island of Molokai. He has dedicated his life to preserving and perpetuating the cultural traditions of his ancestors for several decades. Kumu Lawrence is going out on a worldwide lecture and workshop tour and needed something to introduce himself and his life to audiences.

The Art of the Title Sequence is an awesome website that analyzes and features some of the best Title Sequences from Cinema ever made. Check these out to see how you can create titles that give an intriguing and captivating intro to your web video storytelling. Look at how typography is used with the images and the pacing and transitions of the motion graphics. This one is from the crime-drama 1968 movie “Bullitt” starring Steve McQueen.

Apple today announced the launch of their new multimedia device the iPad. This touchscreen device that can be both Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G enabled with 720p HD video capability should be an awesome Web video viewer as well as Web Browser. The iPad will support h.264 video and AAC audio and uses apps from the iPhone and ones written especially for it. The iPad is also a capable ebook reader and Apple is lauching a new ebook store.
